Yesterday and the day before were both beautiful days! Were you able to get outside for a little bit? If so, what did you do? If not, what did you do instead?
When it comes to potato chips, I love salt and vinegar flavor, my daughter likes the spicy jalapeno ones, my son goes for sour cream and onion, and my husband prefers plain. What's your go to chip?
Yesterday we were off because it was Memorial Day. It is a day we put aside to remember and honor military personnel who died while serving in any branch of the United States Armed Forces. Is there any family member or family friend who you remembered yesterday? If not, write a line or two of thanks to these service men and women for the sacrifice they made so that we can enjoy our freedom.
It's a three day weekend! On a scale of 1-10, how happy are you? I'm at about a 12.5!
(Homo=same Phone=sound) Homophones are words that sound the same but have different spellings and meanings. The earlier you are today, the easier this task will be because your job is to list a pair of homophones WITHOUT REPEATING what another classmate wrote. I'll start with KNOT and NOT.
If you had to eat breakfast (I know some of us skip it) what would be the breakfast of your choice? Would you rather have a cold cereal or something else?
Last night my kids and my husband ordered pizza for dinner. They got one of those specialty pies...It was penne ala vodka pizza. It had pasta right on top of the pizza! I thought it was odd, but they loved it. What pizza toppings do you usually go for?
This past Friday's turn out for Movie Night was smaller than usual. How come? Was it because you don't like scary movies, or did you just have other plans? It's okay! I just want to know because if you want me to pick a comedy for next week, I will!
Nope, it's NOT chocolate chip "cookie" day...Just Chocolate Chip Day. So...name something other than cookies that you can use chocolate chips for. And, if you have some at home and are feeling adventurous, why don't you try making something with chocolate chips!
If you haven't already watched my morning video, go check it out...It's National Chicken Dance Day! (Why this dance requires a National holiday, I'll never know.) Sometimes it's fun to be goofy. What is the last time you did something immature, silly, and/or goofy just for the sake of having fun? Btw...Mine was just a few minutes ago when I filmed my video!
As a vegan, I get asked that qustion all the time! Today is the Eighth Annual International Hummus Day! I happen to LOVE hummus, but there are many people who don't . What is a food that you really like but that other people think it is weird or gross? (And tell those people to mind their business anyway!)
Would you rather spend a day hanging out at a warm beach or a spend a day playing outside in the snow? Why?
My plans wound up changing. Instead of sending my mom a gift card, my kids, my husband and I drove to my parents and brought over a ton of groceries (since my parents can't go out shopping) and we gave my mom a beautiful candle holder. So, what did you wind up doing yesterday? Did you follow through with the plans that you wrote about on Friday?
Mother's Day is going to be tricky this year since many of us can't go out to go shopping for Mom. Let's share an idea or two here of something we can do for Mom to celebrate her (or any other special someone like Grandma!) this Sunday. I'm going to to send my mom an Amazon e-gift card because she LOVES to read on her Kindle and that is what she has been doing so much of since she can't go out much these days. She will be able to download a bunch of new books to read.
Throughout history, there have been few national days of prayer. In fact, there were only a few noteworthy ones between the 1700s – 1900s. The National Day of Prayer that we know today was founded in 1952, and it was co-founded effort between the United States Congress and President Harry S. Truman. The holiday was signed into law by President Truman, and every president since has signed a proclamation that encourages Americans to pray on and celebrate this day. The national holiday has always been the first Thursday of May every year since it was founded in 1952. It stands as a day that continues the decision-making of the country’s founding fathers, which used the morals from biblical lessons in difficult situations. Basically, using God’s guidance to make important decisions in the country and for yourself. Just like Thanksgiving and Christmas, the National Day of Prayer has become recognized by Americans nation-wide, and it is even recognized and celebrated in all Hallmark calendars. Type the following sentence by filling in the blanks...TODAY I WILL PRAY FOR ___ BECAUSE ___.
Today is National Nurses Day! Their jobs have been extremely difficult these last few months. Would you ever consider working in the medical field? Why or why not?
Cinco de Mayo (the fifth of May) is also called the Anniversary of the Battle of Puebla. It is a holiday celebrated in parts of Mexico and the United States in honor of a military victory in 1862 over the French forces of Napoleon III. Here in the United States, it is often a fun day to celebrate. I have to work tonight so my family and I won't eat dinner together. Instead, we celebrated last night and had tons of Mexican food! Have you ever celebrated this holiday? If not, would you like to?
I was so happy to "see" so many of you at our first Movie Night on Saturday! I had a nice time :) and you were the best and politest guests ever! I was so proud of you! If you were able to join us, what was your favorite part of the night? If you weren't able to join us this time, do you think you might join next time?
Tomorrow will be our first quarantine Movie Night! I am not 100% certain what movie we are watching yet, but I will let you know by tonight. Also, I will be sending your parents a virtual permission slip by email. They will have to email me back to say it's okay. Make sure that you check your own email too! For today's blog response, just let me know if you think you will be joining me for movie night by responding YES, NO, or MAYBE.
