Don't post here until you have reread Chapter 8 - Section 2 in your social studies text. Pay close attention to the chart on page 291.
A few weeks ago, on a chapter test, you wrote an extended response answer as to whether you would be a Federalist or an Antifederalist. What I want you to do here today is share with the class if you would side with the Republicans or the Federalists. Be sure to have a topic sentence that states your opinion. Then, be sure that you have reasons WHY yours is the right opinion. There is a PART 2 to this! Check back later on today and find someone who has a differing opinion from you. Respond to their post by trying to convince them why your side is correct. Remember, this is supposed to be like a classroom discussion so no fighting :) Jesus is watching! If someone has already commented on a post, look for someone else to discuss this with. Happy discussing!

During the early 1790s, there was a huge fight with the Republicans and Federalists. If I were to choose one side to be on, I would be a Republican. I chose this side because I believe it is unfair for the president to have a lot of power and giving the state government so little. This is why the state government should be stronger. The Republicans were also scared that the central government would become a monarchy. I would understand this cause some people still can’t trust rulers after King George the third. I mean I would be terrified just like them. I also believe that we should focus more on crops cause it doesn’t have tax unlike shipping, manufacturing, and trade. I believe that Republicans are right in this battle.

Don't you think we need something strong to unite all the states. A strong central government will fill that role. What would happen if the state governments go into conflict. We need a strong moderator that overpowers all state governments. The central government needs to be strong to function as the backbone of our country. A strong central government can provide widespread peace across the country.

While I can see the reasoning behind why someone would want to be either party (Federalist or Republican), I, personally, would lead more to the Federalist side. The United States is only a couple decades old at the time, and I think there should be a greater sense of unity for this young country. Federalists thought same, wanting to support the country through tariffs, trade, and a national bank. I also agree that the constitution should be loosely interpreted, allowing necessary things to happen. Overall, I don't think this debate should be happening. The United States already argued about this as Antifederalists and Federalists and ended up with the President.

Did you ever stop to think that some people were still scared of the president taking over? The Republicans believe that under the President (Washington) the federal government was getting to strong and overcome them. They might of believed that if the power was split with the states, they couldn't become a monarchy.

During the early 1970s, there were two political parties that was beginning to form, they were called the Republicans and Federalists. If I were given the option of choosing a side, I would choose the Republican side. Although there is a reason on why I chose the Republican side. The reason is the Republicans are giving, we the people, political power. The Federalists wanted a strong central government, which can lead to too much power for the government, they can act like monarchy. The Federalists are more worried about money, than the people. The Republicans wanted to give farmers the credit that the deserved, they were going to value the importance of agriculture. Unlike the Federalists, the supported import and export between states and tax those products, so they can get money.

Don't you think every country still needs a strong government? Federalists can make the government strong but not too strong. Remember the Articles of Confederation and how it gave a lot of power to the states? That didn't work so framers of the Constitution made a stronger central government. The protective tariff that Federalists support may outrage farmers, but maybe the taxed money can be used to help the people.

There were two political parties that argued about many different things, the Federalists and Republicans. Personally, I would have supported the Federalists. In order to have a good and functioning country, a strong central government is a good idea. Republications may think a strong central government will turn into a monarchy, but I think Federalists will keep it strong but not too strong. Manufacturing, shipping, and trade are important for supplies. This helps the northern states, and New York is probably one of them. With a protective tariff that the Federalists supported, the extra money may be used for a good cause. That is why I will want to be a Federalist.

Did you even think about the other people that would suffer merely because of the Federalists. No, not everybody needs a strong central government. If we do have a strong central government, then what is the whole point of the people if they aren't going to do anything about the government. They would just be ruled over again and again. There are people in this world that cannot afford anything. If everything would be taxed, then what are those people going to eat? Shouldn't you pay more attention about the people and not about the money that you are going to receiving.

Republicans and Federalist have two different ideas. I believe you should join the Republicans. My reasons is Republicans are more structured than the federalist, what I mean by that is Republicans want to keep power of states at the same level.

Although George Washington warned about political parties, we did not listen and formed them anyway. In my opinion, I think that the Federalist party is the way to go. I mean, I don't support some of its views such as favoring the British, but most of their beliefs support mine. First of all, they favored a loose interpretation of the Constitution. Many things have changed over time, and I think that the Constitution needs to be flexible because of this. Second of all, they encouraged things such as trade. This allows the United States to make allies which can help them in the future. However, I do recognize that some of the Federalist party's beliefs are not so good, but I would support them despite that.

Although the federalists side had great ideas such as a protective tariff, the republicans had better ideas. Wouldn't you like to have your voice heard. republicans favor having the people voice their opinions.

There has been arguments between the two parties, the Republicans and the Federalists. I would have been a Republican, because the Republicans wanted a weak government. I think that it would be more fair if the state governments were more powerful, because they can make laws that will be specific to their state as each state can have different problems.

Okay, I respect your opinion since the Republican party shares some of my beliefs. However, I would like to state why the Federalist party is better. Although I do believe in power to the people, I don't want too much power. It could lead to many bad things happening if it falls into the wrong hands. However, there are good things that the Federalist party believes in. An example of this is that they wanted the Constitution to be interpreted loosely. This is a good thing because things change overtime, and the Constitution needs to be flexible to those changes. I totally understand if you disagree with me, but I'm just telling you about my opinion.

The two political parties included the Federalists and Republicans which both had different views. I think I would be part of the Republican party, this is because they favored loose interpretation of the Constitution. I believe that this is especially important during the growth of US because things will start to change overtime and laws should change with them. Another thing I agree with is their favor over the national tariff. I think it would end up benefitting the people who pay the tax since that money was being collecting to repay debt in the first place. Although the Federalist party might have some bad idea as well, I think I can side with them the most.

They are two parties, the Federalists and Republicans. What my decision would be to be a republican. My reasoning is because a republican is focusing on a strong state government. Another reason is that Republicans want to keep most power at the state or the local level. I believe my reasoning is right because the power of government should be run locally by the people who would know what is best and what is needed.

There were two political parties, the Federalists and the Republicans. If I had to choose a side, I would pick the Federalists. The Federalists supported a loose interpretation of the Constitution. I think that keeping the Constitution flexible enough is important to maintain balance in our country. The Federalists had some ideas that I don't really agree with. For example, they supported the British. Despite those ideas, I think that I would be able to agree with the Federalists on the most part.

There were two political parties, the Federalists and the Republicans. If I had to choose between the two, I would rather be a Federalist. The Federalists wanted to keep the constitution malleable to keep the balance in our country. However, some of their suggestions did make me second guess myself, such as the British. In the end, I would choose to be a Federalist.

Although I do not agree with some of their suggestions, overall I would still pick their side. Think about it. If the states had all the power, it wouldn't be organized. In the 1790's, two political parties were starting to arise. The two political parties were the federalists and the republicans. Now before I state which side i'm on I just want to say that both parties had very good ideas. For example, the federalists favored a protective tariff and a national bank, which in my opinion, is a good thing. the republicans believed the people should have political power, which I agree with. I would drift more towards the republicans side.this is because I believe the people should have a say and they should be able to voice their opinions.
