I feel like we are constantly surrounded by unhappy thoughts lately. Yesterday, those of us who are "in person learners" were told that we would be shutdown for at least a week as we return to remote learning. Ugh! We are not happy campers here! We could focus on the negatives, or....we could share something positive! What I would like you to do today is share something positive that has happened to you recently. Be specific. Explain your "posiive experience" in detail. Please, as always, have a topic sentence and supporting details. Your answer should be MORE THAN JUST ONE SENTENCE! I will start. When I came into the school building on Tuesday, I had had a not-so-great weekend. Mrs. Williams knew about it and had apparently left a little gift for me in my classroom. When I opened up the giftbag she had left for me as a surprise, it was a Funko Pop Television figure of my favorite character from a TV show that I love. It made me smile from ear to ear! Mrs. Williams is a true friend to me because she always finds a way to make me happy even when I am going through something troubling. She makes me happy!

Well, I'm feeling angry, disappointed, frustrated, and maybe even a bit helpless at this very moment. Yesterday you had class with Mrs. Sposato and you discussed your feelings. I know that the school closing again (even though we have been doing all of the right things) doesn't seem fair. What I want you to do BEFORE you respond to this post...is look up articles about Governor Cuomo shutting down Catholic schools located in hot spots in Brooklyn and Queens. Read about what he is saying. Then look up articles that show the Catholic Church and the Catholic schools' (Catholic Diocese) responses. After reading a few articles, explain your opinion. Do you agree with Cuomo for closing our schools even though we have done nothing wrong, or do you agree with the Catholic Diocese for fighting for our rights to remain open? YOUR ANSWER SHOULD BE A MINIMUM OF ONE PARAGRAPH (6-9 sentences).
Every week there will be something to write about on Fridays. I would like to hear some suggestions for topics from you! List three (3) topics here that we could potentially use in the future for our Friday Blogs. Each one of your suggestions should be in sentence form. (Don't forget to go to your ELA Google Classroom later this morning to take your Spelling test!) Have a great weekend!
